Pay attention to this icon: it tells you in real-time exactly how many metres away you are from the Inhibitor, so you can use this to easily track it down. Whenever you get within 50 metres of an Inhibitor, your GRE Access Key will notify you with a voiceline, and an icon will appear in the lower left of your screen. GRE Quarantine areas each contain 4 Inhibitors, so it's well worth tracking them down if you want to earn lots of Inhibitors in a short space of time. Many of them are related to specific activities: for example, GRE Anomaly areas will always award you with 2 Inhibitors once you clear out the Revenant Infected there. You can find Inhibitors scattered all across Villedor. Note that certain close-together Inhibitors have been grouped under a single marker. You can use the above map to find out where every single Inhibitor in Dying Light 2 can be found. Almost all of them are hidden inside crates or safes. As for the other 120, some of them you'll run into while playing through the main story, while others may require quite a bit of exploring off the beaten path to obtain. You earn 6 very early in the story as part of scripted quest sequences. There is a grand total of 126 Inhibitors to find in Dying Light 2. Inhibitors are therefore the most important collectible item in the game (despite being far more common than certain items such as Military Tech), as they form the foundation of all character progression in Dying Light 2.ĭying Light 2 Inhibitor locations map The base map was taken from SwissGameGuides' Dying Light 2 Interactive map. The greater your maximum health and stamina, the more skills you'll be able to unlock from the combat and parkour skill trees respectively. Whichever you choose, your maximum immunity will also increase, allowing you to spend more time in the dark and at night. With every 3 Inhibitors collected, you can choose either to increase your maximum health or your maximum stamina by 20 points. In game terms, they serve to increase your maximum health, stamina, and immunity. In Dying Light 2, Inhibitors are special chemical injections which help to combat the Harran virus.

12/21/2023 0 Comments Npr hourly news summary transcriptShe points out that, yes, the formula can work a lot of the time. WOODS: The Taylor Rule does have its critics, notably Janet Yellen, the former Fed chair and now treasury secretary. And in his view, policy rules like the Taylor Rule work better than human judgment most of the time. And as the years go on, John is trying to promote this idea. If the rule had been followed, maybe we could have avoided those crashes. It was also in the early 2000s, when low interest rates contributed to massive housing price growth, fueling the speculative bubble that led to the Great Recession in 2008.ĬHILDS: John felt like his historical analysis vindicated the Taylor Rule. WOODS: And when the Fed had deviated from the Taylor Rule, that was the 1970s, when inflation got so high that the Fed had to crash the economy in the early '80s to stamp it out. That's for sure.ĬHILDS: John crunched the numbers for his rule, and he found that it described fairly closely what the Federal Reserve had actually done in the 1980s and would go on to do in the 1990s. TAYLOR: I didn't think it'd be so important or useful. And you also take into account how overheated or undercooked the wider economy is as well.ĬHILDS: And those two factors together, inflation and the state of the economy - that's more or less it. And then the Taylor Rule says that you would raise interest rates by 1 1/2 percentage points. And so let's say you have inflation bubbling along at 2%, but then one day it spikes up to 3%. So we've got this target for the Fed, usually. Raise interest rates by more than the spike in inflation. WOODS: And in the early 1990s, John developed his recipe, which was essentially this. Can't we simplify it? We want it to be available for everybody. TAYLOR: Gee, this recipe is so complicated. John didn't think these models would work for policymakers. WOODS: John was looking for a way to guide Fed officials towards keeping the economy growing steadily - not too much inflation, not too much unemployment.ĬHILDS: But a lot of the recipes out there giving models for how the central banks should raise or lower interest rates had a lot of inputs and equations. So I started with, how can we conduct policy in a more understandable way? It didn't seem like the way we should be conducting policy. JOHN TAYLOR: We had money growth high, money growth low. He was working at the Council of Economic Advisers under President Ford. There may also be other languages available in this menu.MARY CHILDS, BYLINE: John Taylor was an economist then, recently out of his Ph.D. If available, you'll be able to choose a transcript that has been transcribed by one of our TED Translators.Click that text to open a menu with all language options. If a human-created translation is not available, YouTube will default to automatic captions, which are not always accurate. At the bottom of the transcript, you might see the text "English (auto-generated)".The transcript will open in a window to the right of the video player.Click *Open Transcript* (if it's available).Click the "3 dots" icon located next to the *Share* button.Let us know at can access transcripts for most TED talks on YouTube by following these steps: Transcripts are not currently available in the TED app for iOS or Android, though it's a feature our developers will be glad to consider. High intake of vitamin C had a borderline significant association with risk of AD in all models. Rotterdam Study: In the Rotterdam Study, persons in the highest category of vitamin E intake from food were 43% less likely to develop AD compared with those in the lowest category of intake. The Chicago findings were based on new cases developing in an average 3.9-year interval between the baseline and follow-up examination among 815 men and women, black and white, aged 65 years and older. In the Chicago Health and Aging Project, persons in the highest category of vitamin E intake from food were 70% less likely than those in the lowest category of intake to be diagnosed with AD! The overall Chicago findings for vitamin C– which cranberries are very high in–were not statistically significant in this study but remain suggestive enough to be of interest for further study. The result was less clear, overall, with vitamin C. In both of these observational studies, higher dietary intake of antioxidants– especially vitamin E–was found to be associated with a lower risk of incident Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Dietary Intake of Antioxidant Nutrients and the Risk of Incident Alzheimer Disease in a Biracial Community Study (pages 3230-3237).Dietary Intake of Antioxidants and Risk of Alzheimer Disease (pages 3223-3229).Several previous findings suggest that oxidative stress may play an important role in the development of AD, which is now the 6th-leading cause of death among adults, and is expected to afflict an estimated 14 million people within the next 50 years, leading some to call it the “health care challenge of the 21st century!” In the United States, the current estimate of 360,000 new cases of AD each year is expected to triple in the next 40 years! Even modestly effective interventions that delay the onset of this terrible disease by one to three years will substantially alleviate its growing economic and societal burden. The similarity of the results–which were generated using similar, standardized methods in Chicago (US) and Rotterdam (The Netherlands)–provides persuasive support for the idea that antioxidant-rich foods may have a beneficial impact on the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The consistency of findings in these two independent cross-national studies is notable. Rather than doing random training, we decided to do a mini-project that would make our lives a little easier. Some developers (including myself) had to log in to multiple environments more than once an hour, and having to wait for a popup to appear to allow you to log in on your mobile device took more than a few minutes of our day. Coincidentally we also had to start our pre-work for the PWA & Managed Runtime BETA training, in which we had to brush up on our React.JS knowledge. Now, looking back, this was not the original reason we created the extension. Some people may not want to add a company-related application to their device, or in some cases, are banned from bringing any mobile device inside of the office! And again, this is a great decision to secure the Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C environments that handle sensitive data.īut as it goes, security and usability hardly go hand in hand. You would have to add a secondary device to your account to log into all environments securely. The second decision, however, did blow up some dust in the Salesforce B2C Commerce Community. And it didn’t affect us as we had already switched entirely to Account Manager (or at least 95%). “We will disable local accounts in 2021, and by 2022 everyone has to use Multi-Factor Authentication”.īy any means an excellent decision for ease of use since we would no longer need separate accounts for each environment. In 2020, Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C announced: Come into life, AutoMaton! This browser extension (currently only Chromium) automatically logs you into your account, even with Multi-Factor Authentication enabled. Some time ago, I received some grievances that logging into the Account Manager of Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C every 15 minutes with Multi-Factor Authentication enabled was not a great experience. 12/20/2023 0 Comments Speech to text programIt was the same with the second attempt The third try opened a new document and the fourth tried to select all the numbers in our document, so it wasn’t especially useful. Trying to add a new line to a document gave us a “what was that?” message, though. We started with a success and opened the search window as intended. The tutorial is a video that goes through the command list and ours clearly says Windows 10 at the top, so we skipped to giving it a try. Weirdly, though we are using Windows 10, we can only select Windows 7 or 8.1. Moving on, Windows strongly recommends that we take a voice commands tutorial. If so, our article on Windows 10 privacy settings is worth checking out. You might have concerns about enabling speech recognition on Windows given its record on privacy. Once you’re finished, it immediately offers to improve itself by flicking through your emails and documents. You’ll need to repeat a couple of sentences aloud. All you need to do to set it up is search for “speech recognition” in the Windows search box, then click through the installation wizard. Windows Speech Recognition is built in to Windows. Our Mac mini failed to recognize the mic input, so it’s out by default. We’ll be doing most of our testing on the same PC and will use an iPad and Android phone to look at offerings from Apple and Google. Our microphone is a standard headset, nothing fancy. The big question we wanted to ask was whether voice recognition software has moved from being an occasionally useful novelty to something that offers a reasonable, or even superior, alternative to typing. We will also look at command recognition where appropriate. We’ll read a fixed set of text to each tool to compare how it is handled. We will focus on English in our testing, but may throw in snippets of other languages to see what happens.įor our testing, the main thing we’ll be looking at is accuracy. Different languages present different challenges to computer interpretation systems. Americans are better catered to than people from Scotland, for instance. Those of us from more remote parts of the world may find our accents less likely to be recognized than others. Mileage may vary depending on your language or accent. For those with a physical impairment, it may be their only way to use a computer, making accuracy all the more important. Most people speak faster than they type, so it can make them more productive, providing that the software is accurate. You can write a speech for work while cooking, for example. If you want to dictate while doing other things, speech-to-text is perfect. Our favorite is Dragon NaturallySpeaking, but there are plenty of free (or at least cheaper) options around, too. We took a look at some of the options to bring you this overview of the best speech-to-text software around. Despite its reputation for not quite working, modern tools can do a decent job of translating your voice into text for dictation and inputting commands. Office Clipboard only works inside Microsoft Office apps (and while it's great for formatted text and images, it doesn't work with other files). Click any item to insert it into your current document and copy it to the clipboard again. Click the arrow icon on the corner of the Clipboard section in the Home menu to open the Office Clipboard and look through all the text, links, and images it's saved. You can then view those saved clipboard items inside any Microsoft Office app. Press Ctrl+ C twice in a row while Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or another Office app is open, and the Office Clipboard will keep the most recent 24 items you've copied. If you have Microsoft Office on your PC, the simplest clipboard manager is the one that's built-in: Office Clipboard. Microsoft Office for Windows includes a built-in clipboard manager Here are the simplest ways to copy as much as you want. We tested over a dozen and picked the apps that were easy to use, free or under $30, and worked reliably with plain and formatted text, images, and files (and all except for Office Clipboard let you set how many items you want to save in your clipboard history). There are a wide range of clipboard apps-and you need something simple to rely on, a tool that's as easy to use as your clipboard, just better. If you want to paste something you copied a while back, that's when you'll turn to the clipboard manager. Keep your clipboard manager app running on your computer, then copy text, links, images, files, and more with Command+ C or Control+ C as normal-and paste as normal, too. I'd never thought I needed a clipboard manager for the longest time-once I started using one, though, it became indispensable.Ĭlipboard managers work like your built-in clipboard. They're super clipboards that remember everything you copy so you can still paste that item you copied an hour ago and almost forgot. Now you've lost the important thing you'd copied previously. Then you see a funny video on your way between tabs and copy it to share with a friend. The bad side is when you copy-or worse, cut-something from a document or spreadsheet, intending to paste it into another document. It's served you well all these years-and hey, on a Mac, it can even remember two things at once. The clipboard built into your computer is pretty good. 12/20/2023 0 Comments The eyes of ara not on twitchBut the real point is the game art and the soundtrack, which are hallucinatory and fantastic. The platforming requires light jumping-reflex skills, nothing hardcore.Īs for the story, well, it's in the genre of sentimental art games about children. The puzzles explore this premise adequately - no enormous surprises but everything is solidly designed. However, I played all of these games before I started doing that, and I bought them all on my own dime (minus the Halloween sale discount). Note: I am involved in IGF judging again this year. I finished up all the games I bought from Steam's summer sale, so I bought a bunch more in Steam's Halloween sale. Discounting the certificate would only make it less valuable. The Steam DLC Solo Adventurer Pledge Certificate is not discounted. Oh, and since somebody is going to ask: no. That's just the way things are right now.) You may have noted that Steam has launched its Thanksgiving sale. And I finished both in roughly 15 hours of play time. Both are lonely worlds they avoid human interaction (and thus the high costs of character modeling and animation). They both take advantage of the 3D world engine, both visually and in their puzzle design. Both have really great, creatively constructed puzzles. Quern and Obduction are both top-notch adventure games. (Note that that " Characterizing IF" post is harsh on CYOA games. They are graphical IF in the sense that I used to talk about: you must engage with them immersively, placing yourself in the world, imagining those objects around you (and in your hands), considering what makes sense to do in that physical reality. They're both aiming at the same target: a first-person adventure in which the puzzles span every aspect of the environment. Just as it was impossible to talk about Obduction without comparing it to Myst, I cannot talk about Quern without comparing it to Obduction. (Note: I was a Kickstarter backer on Quern. Spoiler: those are the two good ones, so far. Give the point back for making progress on a KS payout way less than a million dollars.)Īnd I have played Obduction, and now I have played Quern: Undying Thoughts. (To be sure, Xing's Kickstarter predated Obduction's - plus one point for foresight, minus one point for taking longer. Of those, I have now played Haven Moon (my notes in this post) and Neptune Flux (didn't have much to say). Sure enough, a couple of years later, I saw several Myst-inspired projects on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight. Then Cyan got a million dollars out of nostalgic Myst fans. With Unit圓D well-established and the Unreal 4 engine coming up, small teams were in a good position to produce really stellar visual environments. When the Obduction kickstarter fired up in 2013, it seemed like a good moment for adventure games in general. This is better for frequency control, but I prefer the Shuttle. 12/20/2023 0 Comments Gallant weight in goldIt oscillates from classical to massive to chill, all between heartbeats. The enigmatic producer delivers a Future Chillstep tune that takes the tune in a new & wanted direction. Loosid has an erratic genius to their work. The beatwork in the 2nd half of the remix is stunning, with a vibe that blends Jersey Club with Chicago Footwork, a feeling I can’t wait to hear more of. It’s got an energy of its own and turned me on to Ms. It would find itself at home in a Trippy Turtle set, with a glimmering West Coast beach shine. Venessa Michaels‘ turn with Weight In Gold resulted in this peppy Jersey Club remix. Louis Futon is a master producer as a lot of the synth work in this track and the almost classical feel that he drops is a fantastic pairing with the original. Massive chill populates this rework, with a healthy dollop of rhythm & blues on the top. Louis Futon is an EDMTunes favorite and with remixes like this, you can see why. They give the tune a funky, jazzy finish that has a triumphant panache which cuts out just as suddenly as it comes in, leaving me wanting so much more. Their remix infuses a vintage jam feel with the perfection that is Weight In Gold. Luca Lush has become a sensation swiftly and with chops like this, I don’t know why anyone is surprised.īrassTracks are fast becoming one of the most recognizable artists in the emerging producer space, in no small part due to their signature trumpet work. The drum work on the tune is amazing and not a single note is out of place. The always impressive Luca Lush brings out a soulful track deep from the Future rain-drenched jungle. A huge hit, I’m surprised I haven’t heard it more often in the last 2 weeks, but I expect as it filters through the music internet, we’ll hear it way more. A subtle rock influence can be detected, and by subtle, I mean “holy crap check out the guitar on this.” This is a truly American remix, and the LA star keeps the power up throughout. There’s a heaviness to his rework that you won’t find anywhere else. Sweater Beats never disappoints & this is no exception to that rule. 12/20/2023 0 Comments Cinema grade alternative for windowsUnfortunately, this software is not entirely free as it comes in two versions: Lightworks Free and Lightworks Pro. The developers have also added some high-quality video and audio filters and effects aimed at professionals. Lightworks offers the most comprehensive support for analog and digital connections, including 12G, 3G-SDI, Optical audio, HDMI 2, and AES/EBU connectors. It has a voice-over, and recently, Mackie MIDI support was added for Linux users. Alongside those features, you will also find Low-Res Proxy workflows for 4K and drag-and-drop support. The award-winning non-linear editing (NLE) software supports 4K, Blu-Ray, and even SD and HD video formats. This video editor for Linux systems is suitable for professionals in video editing, as the features go beyond the realm of novice editors. Shotcut can be executed on any Linux distro due to the availability of the AppImage version.ĭownload Shotcut 3. On the audio front, it supports JACK transport sync, audio mixing across all tracks, stereo, mono, and 5.1 surround sounds support.ĭespite its features, we do not recommend Shotcut for professional purposes as the software is limited to only basic video editing. In addition to that, it supports external monitoring. Moreover, you can also edit audio and 4K videos through it. If you quickly need to delete the audio from a video clip, Shotcut gets it done. It supports keyframes for filter parameters and 3-point editing. It comes with a wide range of features, including native timeline editing, video transitions and filters, and a multitrack timeline. Unlike Kdenlive, novice video editors will be able to get a full-fledged experience with Shotcut as it is relatively easy to use. Shotcut is another free, open-source, and cross-platform video editor. Visit the official download page to grab your copy. Kdenlive can be installed on almost any Linux distro, including Ubuntu, elementary OS, Fedora, Manjaro, Arch Linux, Linux Mint, etc. Some basic knowledge of video editing is needed to utilize Kdenlive fully. Note: As the editor is aimed at professionals, newbies might find it difficult to operate. This nifty feature can automatically create low-resolution copies of your source clips to allow lightweight editing and then render using full resolution. Another important feature is Proxy editing. It should also be mentioned that Kdenlive supports Mac OSX and FreeBSD. Are you using any unique file format or camcorder? Not a problem - Kdenlive supports almost everything available. This video editing software offers customizable layout support, a clip list, a multitrack timeline, automatic backup, keyframe special effects, and transitions.
